We all deserve a second chance in life

Second Chance is a non-profit organization founded by 21-year-old Boitumelo Thage from Pretoria, aimed at eliminating poverty starting in the Sunnyside community. The organization's inspiration came from a concerned young citizen.

"Ever since I was 12 years old I have wanted to make a difference. I would look around Pretoria and see people less fortunate than myself and ask if this is fair; however I was also timid so I pushed a way the thought."

The organisation focuses on homeless people in Sunnyside and Pretoria CBD, providing them with food, toiletries and clothing. The bigger goal is to build a shelter for the homeless when funds start coming in; and provide education for those with children, and also assist the shelter residents with securing employment.

“Our main focus as the organization is giving the underprivileged a second chance, a new beginning; and ultimately removing poverty from Pretoria, Gauteng and South Africa. We want the mark of poverty to be removed as though it never existed, we see the people we assist as God sees them and they deserve a second chance”, says Boitumelo.

"We have received a few contributions of money, clothing and toiletries and this to us is an indication that people do want to make a difference Next year we ae hoping for bigger and better things. We want to be more impactful and as years go by and launch in different provinces of South Africa and ultimately throughout the African continent”, she adds.
