Beauty radiates from within!

Most females are constantly told that they are not good enough, by social media and society. They are told how to act, feel and look. Some girls end up going through low self-esteem issues and eventually falling into depression, due to the high standards that they can’t meet.

Inside-out is campaign that was founded by Martha Ndaba in 2017; this campaign helps address the misconceptions young women have to deal with on a day to day basis and to empower young females from between the ages 13 and 19.

The inside – out campaign activation took place in Randburg, Johannesburg at Rhema church on February, 24, 2018. The day was filled with fun packed empowering activities, motivational speakers and beauty tips for the young ladies to boost their confidence.

“Instead of empowering each other, most females bring each other down”, says Martha. One of the aims of the campaign is to encourage young girls to empower one another and show each other that they are beautiful both inside out, instead of bringing each other down by pointing out their imperfections and making each other feel bad about them.

The branding yourself and the getting to know each other activities, were one of the activities the girls had to do. The girls got to brand themselves with different brands that they were given to choose from, they learnt that no one can brand you but yourself; the more you brand yourself in a positive way and tell yourself that you are special the more you’ll be able to breakout of the standards that society and social media has created for you and learn to be yourself.

“Popularity at the end of the day determines who people are in the social strata’’ said Lebo. When the girls got to do the getting to know each other activity they got to see that they are not all perfect, and that all of them have their different insecurities and that instead of judging each other they should learn from one another, stick together and break the impossible standards of what perfect should look like together.

Inside out has created a safe place for these girls to grow up into strong self- loving women, away from social media’s constant demands and also teaches the girls that it is important for them to remember that they are all unique and different from each other, making sure that their relationship with God is important because that is how your self-love will evolve.
