Dads and their little ones treated to a fun-filled day


The radio station boldly known for evoking discourse on politics, current affairs and business amongst other societal issues, pulled back and let loose by hosting their first Day of the Dads event at the Waterfall City.

There were plenty of families who enjoyed the day which was filled with activities for each member of the family from slides and face painting for the young ones, to a PlayStation tent for the teens, great picnic place for all mothers to relax .For the dads, Sobert Men had a pop up for some well-deserved grooming, BMW's entire X Range driving experience paired with classic car and exotic bike viewings, helicopter rides and digital golf simulator. Along with the activities were food trucks such as Filthy Moustache and Purple Bull while smack republic provided craft beer, a well-known men’s favourite drink.

On stage, 702 presenters Kenny Maistry, Thabisile Mbete and Tshego Modisane came to the stage to thank all the sponsors and attendees just before Bongani Bingwa blessed the crowd with his melodic voice.

Headliners and Grammy Award winning Mzansi’s national treasure group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo provided a breath-taking performance with their songs of peace, love and happiness which saw music lovers hit the dance floor to the isicathamiya group. The second generation of singers performed their hit singles ‘Nomathemba’, ‘Homeless’ and 'Love your neighbour’ to accompany their message of Love, Peace and Happiness. Sun El musician then got onto the ones and twos with his much anticipated album which was well received by the crowd as they hit the dance floor in support of the good tunes.

“My boys keep me updated as to what's hot on the streets’ said a dad who had old school classic Vans on, showing how the actions of children have a great aftermath on the father's present day.

Overall the day made every old, new and future dads feel as special as possible. After all it was Day of the Dads day.
