Stacy Fru's star just keeps shining

"I have not even started dreaming yet. I cannot start dreaming without other children dreaming, it is like eating in front of a homeless person knowing that they are hungry. I want to share my dream with other children so that we can build a better South Africa together".

Those were the words of the 11year old author of three books Stacey Fru at the official launch of her foundation, the Stacey Fru Foundation and her third and latest book, Smelly Cats on Vacation held at the Profound Conference Centre Bramley, Johannesburg. Hosted by Ruby Moeketsi, Anees Dawood and Tanya Maravanyika, the teenagers kept the event at a flow with so much ease.

The launch saw people coming from in and around Johannesburg as well as those from outside the city in their numbers to witness, donate and support this worthy course.

Gugu Ndebele, CEO of Save the Children was among the guest speakers together with author of Growing up without a Father, Charely Pietersen and owner of Joburg City Library, Wendy Sibeko. Ndebele mentioned that Stacey Fru is the ambassador of her organisation because she can relate, she is humble and a well taken care of diamond who she believes will change the world one book at a time.

Wendy Sibeko of the Joburg City Library was given the honour to unveil Stacey's latest book while Werner Fransman kept people in anticipation and on their feet when some items were auctioned. Anthea Thyssen was the highest bidder who got herself a special once-off A3 Smelly Cats on Vacation book, signed by the author herself Stacey Fru.

Author Charley Pietersen said that to choose friends wisely because you are the sum total of the five friends you spend your time with. "If they nag, you will be nagging and if they are positive, you will be positive and achieve what you want, he said.

Ambassadors of the foundation; Zinni Ngiba, Nelly Nyathi and Abdul Manack stood proud to thank all partners and sponsors, pleaded to please keep supporting the course which has a fruitful journey ahead, said Manack. They also reminded the crowd that there is still the Children of the Year awards happening in November.

Words of wisdom and encouragement came from family and friends and a moving performance from Zetina Mosia.
