Celebrating Limpopo’s talent #LIMA18

The Limpopo Music Awards that took place at the Meropa Casino this past Saturday, has been on Limpopo’s Artists and Residence’s praise as they were able to bring together all the different tribes, cultures and Religions in one place to celebrate Limpopo’s Talent.

The Event was not only done to unite artists but also done to show the rest of the other countries that the province still has talent and that artists don’t need to move outside the borders to find their big breakthrough in relation to artistic works. This has surely brought more hope to even young artists in Limpopo who are in the music, arts and culture business.

Beyond the award ceremony being a success with regards to uniting artists, the LIMA18 also looked at the best interests of the local artists and making sure they don’t have to seek for good exposure in other provinces but also receive the attention they so need also within the boundaries of the province. “For most artists to make it the music industry they must leave the province. We want to start celebrating our artists, exposing them and showing them off in order to change the mindset that in order to make it you must leave the province”, says The CEO Of The Limpopo Music Awards Mr. Fortune Maswanganyi.

The representatives of the major sponsor of the event, King Korn believe that their collaboration with The LIMA18 is completely a total reflection of what they believe in and stand for. “King Korn is all about celebrating our roots and making sure it stays that way. We are here to show that we understand and appreciate the different cultures and beliefs within the Province too”, Says Mbali, Brand Manager of King Korn.

As Proof that Limpopo Is Indeed going to a different level of taking care of their artists, The Newly Elected MEC Of Sports, Arts & Culture, Ms. Thandi Moraka gave assurance to the people of Limpopo the idea of a Theatre is not a white elephant as the department is definitely considering to have the theatre as to accommodate artists in the Province. “The Department of Sports, Arts & Culture has definitely heard the request of having a theatre in the province and it will surely be taken to action”, The MEC said.

The LIMA project was conceptualized with the aim of recognizing excellence in the music industry. The objective of the project is to grow the status associated with these awards much like all the other well-known awards in the country. The vision was definitely executed in the event and Limpopo surely hopes it stays that way and grow in that regard.
