Legacy foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 2015, focusing on education to be able to empower the youth from different communities in and around the province of Gauteng.

The organisation’s aim with their visit to the community was to empower and encourage the youth of Zandspriut ( an informal settlement north of Johannesburg) from the ages of 3 to teenagers, especially teenagers empowering them through different games and activities, helping identify 2-5 beneficiaries that they can help.

Legacy Foundation’s Debbie Minaar said that “investing in the youth is very important because they are the future of our country and we need to make sure that we give them as many opportunities as possible”.

The organization also brought in a motivational speaker that was able to relate to their circumstances, she motivated the children to work hard, and told them that even though they come from a difficult upbringing there is still a future for them; they should take all opportunities they can get especially from organizations like Legacy Foundation.

The organization looks to add the community of Zandspruit as one of their communities in Johannesburg that they will be identifying the needs of the youth and also make sure that they empower them through education.
