Thabisa told News24 that she was very surprised and couldn’t believe what just happened to her. Thabisa also added that she hardly uses social media and only started using Twitter last year.

33-year old Thabisa Xhelithole is a single mother of two small (a 10-year old boy and a 2-year old girl), currently working at MRP Home since 2006, She resides in Cape Town, Went on twitter and requested for R10 prepaid electricity voucher from the twitter world.

She included a picture of a prepaid meter which was 0.00 kWh on her tweet, and the response of the world was amazing as within a few minutes her tweet began to trend and many South African’s heeded to her cry for help. 

Thabisa was able to recharge her electricity buying vouchers between R30 and R100. On Wednesday, June 19th, she received thousands of units, and got called for an interview on SABC 2 Morning Live and also obtained enough money to pay off her son’s school fees.

She was very surprised and couldn’t believe what happened to her. she also added that she hardly uses social media and only started using Twitter last year.

Thabisa’s tweet received over 6000 retweets, 15000 likes and initially made her gain 3000 followers. She confirmed that even today people are still loading money into her account, though the electricity she bought will last her the whole year. 

Mother of two continues to express her greatest gratitude to those that lent a hand in her time off need.
